Calne Station, c.1950s
The end of the Chippenham to Calne branch line is shown in this image of Calne Station. The buffer stops are sandwiched between the main passenger platform alongside the booking office and waiting room, and the small milk dock which was used for both goods and passengers alike. The sign at the end of the building was for RAF personnel from Yatebury and Comton Bassett radio training schools, thus dating this photo to the 1950's or early 1960's

Yeovil Town Station, Somerset, c.1950s
A bustling scene at Yeovil Town Station taken in the late 1950's. The chimneys of the large station building can be seen above the platform canopy, and the passenger footbridge which straddled the tracks is visible at the far end of the three platforms. When it first opened in June 1861, the jointly owned station was served by four signal boxes, two station masters houses and two station masters whose joint cooperation must have been essential for the smooth running of the line.
The station closed to passengers in October 1966

Golant Halt, Fowey Branch Line, Cornwall
Golant Halt, on the Fowey to Lostwithiel line, was a single platform station which stood alongside a stretch of water known as Golant Pill. The proximity of the line to the water is clear to see in this image which shows passengers waiting for an approaching train. The station provided a vital link for residents of Golant in an area with limited road access, opening the village up to both tourism and employment opportunities
