A view of the departure side of Paddington Station following the explosion of a parachute mine on 17th April 1941. A gaping hole can be seen to the right of the image where the station offices were located and a clean-up operation is well under way. The explosion claimed the lives of 18 people, including six staff, with a further 97 people injured. It also destroyed No.2 Booking Hall which was situated adjacent to Platform 1
