St John Ambulance Swindon Class Session Card, 1903

Being a member of a St John Ambulance class meant the regular attendance at practices and lectures. This card from 1903 for the Swindon class, shows that practices were held twice a week, and lectures ran twice each month. The front of the card lists the officers who presided over the class. George Jackson Churchward, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the GWR, was the president. The honorary lecturer was Dr George Rodway Swinhoe who was a member of the GWR Medical Fund Society staff. He later became Chief Medical Officer for the GWR
