Being a member of a St John Ambulance class meant the regular attendance at practices and lectures. George Jackson Churchward, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the GWR, was the president. The honorary lecturer was Dr George Rodway Swinhoe who was a member of the GWR Medical Fund Society staff.
