By the end of 1944 the threat of invasion from Germany became unlikely and it was decided that the Home Guard could be stood down. This image, taken on 3rd December 1944, shows the stand down parade of the 13th Battalion at Swindon Works. The Home Guard was fully disbanded on 31st December 1945
