This 16 Ton boods brake van was built in 1889 to diagram a3. The guard can be seen in the rear of the van controlling the brake wheel. The photo was taken during the Second World War as the guard is wearing his RAILWAY SERVICE badge. This helped identify workers in reserved occupations. This brake van was stationed at Southall
