Frederick J. Hawksworth (1884-1976)

Frederick J. Hawksworth was Chief Mechanical Engineer of the GWR from 1941 to 1947. He took over his role half way through the Second World War. He was born in Swindon and spent his entire career at Swindon Works. He worked his way from apprentice to CME in the space of 43 years
