A view of Preteign Station in Presteigne on the Welsh borders, c.1930, showing tank engine no.1475 sitting in the station with a crowd of young boys looking on. Presteign station opened in 1875 and closed to passengers in the early 1950s after a national coal shortage and general decline in passenger numbers. The station remained open for goods traffic until 1964
