A view of Preteign Station in Presteigne on the Welsh borders, c.1910, showing a saddletank locomotive sitting in the station. Presteign station opened in 1875 and closed to passengers in the early 1950s after a national coal shortage and general decline in passenger numbers. The station remained open for goods traffic until 1964
