Bishops Lydeard Station, Somerset, c.1930
A view of Bishops Lydeard Station in Somerset, c.1930, showing the station buildings, platforms and trains coming and going.
The station opened in March 1862 and closed in January 1971. In the late 1970s and early 1980s Bishops Lydeard station became the terminus of the West Somerset Railway heritage line. In 2019 the station was finally reconnected to the national rail network when the GWR agreed to Saturday services in the summer from Taunton. The goods shed at Bishops Lydeard is now used as a visitor centre and museum

Looe Quay, Cornwall, c.1930
A GWR publicity view of the coastal town of Looe in Cornwall, taken looking upstream in c.1930. The church tower of The Parish of Saint Nicholas is in the bottom right of the image, with boats at the quay and harbour lining the river banks. Connecting the two sides of Looe in the background is the 1853 stone Looe Bridge. A bridge has existed at this site since 1411

Preteign Station, Wales, 1959
A view of Preteign Station in Presteigne on the Welsh borders. This image show the station buildings and was taken in 1959 after passenger services had ceased. Presteign station opened in 1875 and closed to passengers in the early 1950s after a national coal shortage and general decline in passenger numbers. The station remained open for goods traffic until 1964
