A 16 inch gun barrel loaded onto an eighteen wheel gun wagon in 1942

This photograph, taken at Old Oak Common on the 10th April 1942, shows a 16 inch gun barrel that has been loaded onto an eighteen wheel gun wagon ready for delivery. It is interesting to note the messages that have been written onto the side of the gun barrel in chalk presumably by members of railway staff
