GWR Operatic Show - Virginia, 1937
15 glamorous members of the GWR Operatic Society can be seen here promoting their performance of Virginia in 1937. On the bottom row, far left, are sisters, Marjorie Colman and Dorothy Challis. Both Marjorie and Dorothy worked as clerks at Swindon Works. This group was one of a number of societies set up, or supported by, the GWR. By 1937 Marjorie was married and would have given up her role as a clerk. However, as a wife of a GWR employee she was still able to enjoy the benefits of the many clubs and societies
