A rather intriguing photo here of West Ealing Goods Yard, taken in 1940. The strange molehill shaped mounds dotted along the track are air raid shelters and could be accessed quickly by the goods staff should an attack be imminent. The pipes sticking from the top of the shelters were probably used for ventilation purposes or as chimneys for stoves and heaters
