The lady in the centre of this image is Violet Dear. Violet was employed by the GWR at Swindon Works. She worked with fabrics that went into the royal trains. She had previously been a machinist for a cloth company. This photograph was taken in January 1950. It shows Violet with two fellow members of the Swindon Fencing Club. Violet made the uniforms that the three women are wearing
