In the May 1938 edition of the GWR Magazine it was reported that a team from Shrewsbury won the ‘Florence M Lean’ Challenge Cup. This cup was awarded for a women only ambulance competition. The winners, pictured here, each won a pewter tea service. They were also recognised for their efficiency, neatness and quietness
