These Type 3 Diesel Hydraulic locomotives operated on the Western Region. 101 Hymeks were built by Beyer Peacock Ltd between 1961 and 1964 but the class was withdrawn during the 1970s due to BR phasing out locomotives with non-standard hydraulic transmission
