Vera Bray, Rail Travel Advisor, Cardiff Station 1957
This is Vera Bray, photographed in November 1957. After working for the railways as a clerk for 16 years, Vera took on the role of being the very first Rail Travel Advisor at Cardiff Central Station. She described her job as being ‘similar to that of a hostess, giving help, support and information to travellers. Vera quickly made a name for herself and received many thank you letters from passengers and featured in numerous newspaper articles. She even wrote a feature about her first six months as a Rail Travel Advisor for the Western Region News
